Accessorise

It can be difficult to be fashionable when you’re hanging out in sweltering heat and struggle to wear anything more than a bikini or a pair of swim shorts. When you can barely breathe in the heat layering isn’t really an option, so get yourself some great accessories to give your holiday wardrobe a bit of flair. Watches, jewellery, sunglasses and bags are all holiday essentials that you can make the most of.

Take care of yourself

When you’re on holiday you want to relax and not stress about what you look like. Wouldn’t it be great to skip the make up for a week, or bear all in some beach wear? A little bit of maintenance and some TLC for your skin can do wonders. Leading up to your holiday you should take good care of your skin. Exfoliate, moisturise and drink lots of water to keep your skin clear. A haircut and a manicure can also go a long way when it comes to looking good.

Get some stylish staples

There’s nothing wrong with wearing shorts and a t-shirt, just as long as they’re the right shorts and t-shirt. Instead of packing your bags with 20 pairs of cheap shorts, try investing in one or two great pairs of shorts. Mixing and matching good quality clothes is the easiest way to save space in your suitcase and look good all the time. We all tend to go a bit overboard buying our holiday wardrobe, so this year make some smarter purchases and buy clothes that you’ll wear over and over again. If you get the basics right then everything else will fall into place.

Stay protected

There is nothing attractive about peeling sunburn and mosquito bites, so don’t let the get the best of your good looks on holiday. Be prepared to tackle nature with some good quality sun cream of a high factor and some insect repellent. It’s also a great idea to bring along some chapstick. Dry lips can be irritating, inconvenient and unattractive. Keep them well protected with petroleum jelly and if you fancy going makeup free, some tinted chapstick can add a bit of colour to your face. If you do plan to wear makeup, though, look for foundations with UV protection or mix a bit of liquid foundation with your sunscreen to give your skin a bit of a tint rather than covering your whole face. In heat we sweat and our pores open. Wearing thick makeup in the sun could clog your pores and give you black heads or spots, so chose lighter makeup options, avoid powder makeups and oily moisturisers and don’t neglect your sun cream.
