Chopard LUC 8HF: 8HZ – 57,600 alternations / hour.LUC Chopard 8HF is the name of the last that left its mark on the history of the brand.

LUC Chopard 8HF is the name of the last that left its mark on the history of the brand. It houses the new Calibre LUC 6.1-L, the first movement with escapement high frequency of history to have obtained the certificate of chronometer COSC. This mechanical movement beats at a frequency of 8Hz – against 4Hz (28,800 a / h) of the usual mechanical movements – that is 57,600 alternations per hour, and was designed, developed and manufactured by Chopard in Fleurier Technologies.

At Baselworld 2012 Chopard Manufacture has unveiled the LUC model 8HF. The engineers and watchmakers of Chopard Technologies, a research group’s watchmaking Chopard, have succeeded in developing a movement certified mechanic clock that vibrates at a frequency of 8 Hz, which is 57,600 alternations per hour, observing the rules established by the COSC.

In horology the main purpose of ‘high frequency to be found in significant improvement in timekeeping properties of a gauge. A greater number of alternations of the rocker arm means in teroria a lower sensitivity to disturbances which inluenzarne driving.

The high frequency, which of course requires more energy, in the case of the LUC Caliber 1.6-L associated with a good power reserve of 60 hours generated by a single barrel. In terms of materials engineers Chopard Technologies have chosen silicon for some components of the exhaust as the ankle of the plateau, the anchor, the escape wheel and have developed a new method of attaching the silicon and steel (patent pending ).

Perfectly in line with the innovation offered by the movement, the case of 42 mm diameter of LUC 8HF is made of titanium. Water resistant to 30 meters, is distinguished by the crown, also made of titanium, at 4 o’clock marked the LUC logo The proposed date is within a small window on the arrow at 5 o’clock and 30 while small seconds are red at half past seven.

The case is equipped with a set of loops and back piece black mat (mat), as the two embankments protecting the crown. A magnifying glass integrated into the bottom semi-closed, is disposed above the escapement high frequency in order to better see the details.

The LUC model 8HF is offered with a black alligator leather strap, hand-sewn alligator leather and lined in cognac, with a titanium buckle. Also, is the subject of an initial series of 100 specimens with the experimental high frequency movement LUC 1.6-L.
