In August 2011 the famous watchmaker Girard-Perregaux is celebrating its 220th anniversary. To celebrate this important date the company has organized a traveling exhibition that will go all over the world and provide visitors a masterpiece of watchmaking art, accumulated over two centuries long.
Collection of rare watches will be presented for the first time the company outside of Switzerland. The exhibition is designed to familiarize the public with important world events related to the history of the brand, with unique complex mechanisms created in the workshops of the company, as well as rare watches Girard-Perregaux.
Of course, the most striking exhibit in the exhibition will be a pocket watch model “Esmeralda”. This masterpiece of Girard-Perregaux is the most famous example of watches with tourbillon with three gold bridges. These sophisticated watches were awarded a gold medal in 1889 at the World Exhibition in Paris.
Visitors can also learn from masters of watchmaking companies that clearly at the exhibition are to present their art and know-how.
The traveling exhibition will move on to the following schedule:
- Singapore – Museum of Arts and Sciences with 16 to September 18, 2011
- Shanghai – hotel complex Sinan Mansions 20 to October 23, 2011
- New York – Girard-Perregaux boutique on Madison from 18th to 26th November 2011.
The exhibition will also visit in the autumn of 2011 in Paris, Mexico City, Moscow and London.
